The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
The 'Electricity at Work Regulations 1989' (EAW) were made under the 'Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974' and set out the requirements for the safety of electrical systems and equipment.
The regulations came into force on 1st April 1990. They require precautions to be taken against the risk of death or injury from electricity in work activities - this includes equipment accessible to the public in offices, hotels, shops, schools and colleges, etc.
Failure to comply with the requirements of the regulations may lead to prosecution.
Compliance implies that the whole maintenance programme, from its initial audit through to final record documentation should be carried out by technically qualified and experienced people.
.
How We Can Help
Our technicians are qualified to undertake this work on your behalf, and to help you comply with the EAW regulations.
We will undertake a formal inspection of every appliance and power lead, supplemented by appropriate electrical testing.
After the inspection & testing, the equipment will be individually tagged with its overall safety status, a unique asset ID number and the date that the next inspection is due.
The details and results of all tests undertaken, along with the technician's name, the serial number of their test instrument, and the date on which the inspection and test was conducted, are automatically and electronically recorded by our test equipment.
From this information, we can provide and maintain a complete record of inspection & testing throughout the life of all electrical equipment at your sites.
